The impact of knowledge economy on the electoral process in Iraq

Abstract

Today's world is witnessing a wide use of knowledge in the field of economics، as it is a basic engine for achieving economic growth and development، and the knowledge economy is based primarily on knowledge as an important element of production، and this is what distinguishes it from the traditional economy that relies on traditional production elements (land، labor and capital). . In addition، the knowledge economy is based on information and communication technology، computer programs and Internet networks، as well as on the outputs of research centers and scientific institutions. It is a natural extension of the globalization economy، given that capitalism is always renewing itself.

   With regard to the electoral process in Iraq in the last decade، the knowledge economy played a major role in the use of technology in the elections. The electronic voter card، which is characterized by high security features and prevents repeated voting for the same voter، through the use of an electronic system for the voter register that adopts the biometric data of each voter، as well as what It is related to electronic sorting and counting through the use of the electronic sorting and counting device (electronic ballot box)، which contributes to enhancing confidence in the results، shortening the time required for announcing them، as well as reducing dependence on human effort on polling day، in order to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and reduce the necessary economic costs for it.
